Misaki Yamamoto
The clock speaks to me from far away, as if it has something to tell me besides the fact today is the last day of school. I mean, today is the last day of school for me. I’ll never have to visit this place again. There was nothing else to look forward to except the soft, deep bellow of the bell and the sad little face Nori would ever have for not seeing me next year, even if we do live together. To be honest, I’m not exactly thrilled over the last, last day of school, nor am I happy about heading off to a university. Actually, I’m not going to a university until next year, just so I can get ready and be lazy for a year. Three twenty nine. My eyes were set on the hands of the clock, the seconds hand creating a heat of nostalgia in the bottom of my heart. I guess I was sad. But I never felt sadness since- “Wow, Misaki. Are you really going to be sad about your last day with me?” Nori’s voice cut through my train of thought painfully. Her face, unlike mine, would always be smiling. She looked very unlike me, really. Her skin was a bit tan and her hair was pitch black. It made her look a bit intimidating, but her smile and pure chocolate eyes were always putting down the fact she was probably the most foolish, naïve person you’ll ever meet. She looked older than what she really as- by the way, she’s sixteen- and people always think of her as a college student. College student. What the hell. I don’t know if there’s anything you really want to know about me, really. I mean, I’ve introduced myself enough- a rude, selfish, could-care-less-about-you kind of person who can see no point in my living, and the reason I’m still alive is certainly unknown to me. I don’t really know why I’m alive, or why you’re alive. I am not happy with my life. Actually, if it weren’t for something I said, I would’ve killed myself by now.
“Are you going to miss your uniform, Misaki?” Nori asked on our way home. She couldn’t stop being clingy today, and It really started to bug me. “What? No. It’s not like I cared anyway.” She sighed. “That’s you- Yamamoto Yukio Misaki the downer.” She made a stupid-looking frowning face, and then chuckled a bit. “Misaki, Misaki, you need to get a boyfriend soon!” “I-what?!” “You can’t be single the rest of your life!” She exclaimed, building up the truth in her voice. “You need a guy to make you happy!” I smacked the back of her head, and she took is as playful teasing of some sort. I hated it when she teased me, because I always knew she was right. It’d be weird if I stayed single the rest of my life. Actually, it’d be embarrassing. That was a thought that hit me really hard. It wasn’t a big thing for me to think of right now, but I can’t get my mind off of it. We arrived at our door in what seemed like forever, and I unbuttoned my shirt and untied my red tie before I got to my room (Nori accused me of stripping here. I could’ve hit her again, but I wanted to be nice.), and then threw myself on my bed. I should be relieved that my day was over, shouldn’t I? That I wasn’t ever going to repeat highschool again. The fact I was never going to live with the exact same people over and over at school again. The fact I was living as an adult. But I wasn’t happy, not at all. I was hurting a bit inside, as if something was missing to me. I always felt this way. Every day I would always feel a small piece of me that fell away, and I couldn’t find it. No matter what I did, I would never find that one piece. That’s because the piece was never coming back. It’s gone forever. “Hey, Nori. I’m going to sleep, alright?” “Yeah, okay.” She knows I’ve been sleeping a lot lately, and that I’ve been unusual. But for the many years we’ve been together, she knows that if she bothers me I’ll just get mad at her and then she’d get sad. I would always hate that about her. I clutched my pillow and buried my face into it, as if it’d help me with something. I hardly knew myself- it was what I always did anyway. I heard Nori’s game console turn on and her grandfather walking into the room, asking where I was. She answered honestly. I was sleeping in my room. I heard his footsteps walk past my room, but I guess he knew I wasn’t asleep. He didn’t mind though, he understood me quite well- better than my mother ever would. He never asked me how school was or any of those questions- he knew I hated them. Instead, he’d talk when he had to. I liked him a bit, I guess. I squeezed my eyes shut, begging for sleep to come. I wanted this day to pass. I didn’t know why- I just needed to sleep. I couldn’t stand it- the sadness that was creeping up around me. I couldn’t stand it any longer, and I just stayed in my same position, trying to sleep. Until I finally did, and my life suddenly twisted around because of this. Misaki Yamamoto 2
I woke up, and glared at the white ceiling above me. But wait- I don’t have a white ceiling. The ceiling I had at home was a pale yellow. This wasn’t my home. I shot up, and looked around, totally horrified and stunned. First, I didn’t know who or what took me here. Second, I didn’t know where I was. Third- the most important part- There was no ceiling or floor. There probably weren’t even walls, and I guess wherever I was, it was in some sort of dimension connecting the mortal world to- oh, yeah, I guess I was really going crazy at this point. Was I dreaming? I stopped in my tracks, considering the thought. I probably was dreaming, wasn’t I? The last thing I remember was sleeping anyway, so I guess it’s a dream. “Oh wow, that took you really long to figure out, petite-fille!” The sudden words took me by surprise. I looked around, and in that strange room, was a strange man. “Who’re you?” I asked, rather hostile. He looked not too much older than I was, but he was at least a head or two taller than me. He sighed as soon as he heard my question. “Aww, it’s hard to believe that you don’t know who I am.” “I don’t like your damn riddles, just tell me who you are and I’ll probably refrain from screaming.” “Even if you scream, fille, no one is going to hear you.” “What?” He laughed heartily. “I thought you knew you were dreaming. You are lucid right now, non?” I shot him a glare. “If I scream, I’m sure to wake up.” “Do try.” I’m pretty sure I screamed the loudest scream I’ve ever done. My throat started to hurt afterwards, actually. I looked around yet again, and unfortunately, I was still in the same place, with that same person. How the hell, I suddenly thought, could someone like that get put in my dreams? “I told you, didn’t I?” He laughed again. I don’t know if he was my enemy or my friend. I really, really wanted him to be neither of those things. “Tell me your damn name, you bastard.” I scolded, my voice aching a bit. “Ehh? Oh, alright.” He yawned and teetered in front of me. “If we’re going to get along, then I guess we’ll have to get to know eachother.” I’m not getting along with him already. “I’m Ario Kobayashi. And I’m not a ‘dream,’ in real life I’m about as real as you are, actually! Now, what’s your name?” Was I really going to tell this guy my name, of all things? “I’m Misaki Yamamoto. And you’re not Japanese, are you?” He nodded. “Nope, I’m actually French, but hey! I speak fluent Japanese, don’t I?” What was I supposed to say to that? I pretended to care, and then asked him, “Where am I?” “Oh, I was waiting until you could get there, miss Yamamoto.” He chuckled, and continued. “Here, we are at the start of the path to the doors that lead to dreams.” “That’s impossible. There aren’t any doors.” He shook his gloved finger at me, and pointed to the ground. Peering under, I saw that there were suddenly doors cluttering up the entirety of the area itself. I looked down the hall and, to my surprise, were more doors. There were windows too- open windows. I walked over to one and put my head through it. Before I was pulled out, I could see many toys and candies, with children playing there and running about. I had no idea what this was and where this took place, but before I could get a better look, Ario pulled me down. “You’re not a kid, right?” “Nope.” I answered calmly- at least, about as calm as you can be when someone drags you to the ground while you were just doing some exploration. “Alright, then that’s not your window.” “What the hell do you mean?” “I have to work on my explanation skills, don’t I?” He stood up and brushed himself off. “Alright, well, now that you’re lucid dreaming, you know that a place like this exists.” “And?” “And that’s not supposed to happen. I’m actually supposed to kill you right now.” I looked at him as if he just said a joke. “So this means something- now that you are lucid, you have to make up your own dream right now.” I didn’t understand a word he was saying. I can’t necessarily make dreams. No one can do it. That’s not logical. He sighed, and straightened his tie as if he was preparing for a long talk. “Okay, well, here’s how it works here. I might as well tell you. “There is a dream world and a normal world and the other world- each serves its own purpose. The dream world is self explanatory, and the normal world is for being alive, and the other world is where the dead roam. “The dream world was always here. But it took one person to actually realize a world like this exists. That one person turned the dream world into a game. “Now, if you are lucid dreaming, you have to be killed because you know about the area, but you do not…how do you say… work here. You do not provide the dreams. If a dream world was ever known of, one could take total control over its premise and use it for very bad things, which I will not mention due to the fact it will branch out into other things. “Anyway, I’m here to help make a little dream for you to have and control for your own fun.” He ended with a long breath and a smile. I interjected a question. “Is this going to be a painful process?” “Nah. Just a confusing one. You could take that, non?” I barely know for sure myself. Everything here was confusing already. I nodded subconsciously, as if I knew that I could do it. “Well, that’s wonderful. I guess we can just start off with this little slip of paper- something like a survey, yes?” He handed me a slip of paper that magically was in his hands the entire time, and then a pencil that was probably always there too. The questions themselves were not very personal, simply asking for my likes and dislikes and favorite foods. It was more or less trying to uncover my personality. Something like those tests to pair you up with some video game character. I answered them vaguely and honestly, then handed the paper back to Ario. He read the paper quietly to himself, and then beckoned me to follow him. Reluctantly, I trailed next to him, listening to his murmuring over the little survey I took. Finally, we stopped. It was an abrupt stop, first it was him and then it was me. I shot him a hard look and he didn’t look back. “Alright, miss Yamamoto, you’re gonna have to stay here.” “Eh? Why?” “For secret reasons.” He gave me a wink, as if he thought that I was really going to turn around for him. I stood there, defiant. “Oh? If you aren’t turning around, I guess I’ll have to make you.” His hand flickered around in the air, and then created a flame that, to me, seemed quite real. “I’m sorry, Miss Yamamoto, but this is serious business.” He gently placed the fire near my feet and the flame itself started to spread. I screamed, again, very loudly. “What?! What the hell is this?!” I felt the heat nearing me, and then I realized that Ario was gone. Shit. Like hell I was going to let this guy get away with this.
Daisuke Kawazuya
“How long does it take him?” I growled, somewhat impatient. It was from the anxiety, more or less, from the first time having to be in the Utopia, rather than helping with Myra. But what I’ve seen before didn’t amuse me from the work she and I have completed. “He’s coming, I think.” Sylva said in his defense. “What did I tell you about talking to Ario?” Ritsu, in turn shot back. “I like him. He’s nice. I guess I can’t hang out with people that are nice now.” “C-can’t we all get along for now? I don’t like the sudden atmosphere change…” Jurin complained, somewhat worried. She was a peacemaker, if you hadn’t noticed. At this point, we were in somewhat horrible shape. No one liked anyone right now. I just kept to myself, what I happened to always do. Thinking instead of talking was the way I went. I continued about the white area, a bit surprised over the clean whiteness of the place. It almost seemed untouched. Iguess this was what made me somewhat odd- the fact I was more interested in my surroundings. A tree was more than a tree to me. Crayons are made of something that wasn’t wax. I continued to stare at the white floor, and I guess I was doing that for a while, because Ritsu was suddenly getting to be a bit talkative. “What’re you doing?” I perked up, a bit surprised. “Nothing, really.” “Apparently.” The conversation was broken off in a bothersome way- the way where we could still continue it but we decided against it. Ritsu was my older brother by five minutes, and our relationship was not exactly a perfect one. He and I were the same in probably appearance, and that itself is an understatement. We aren’t alike at all, personality wise anyway. He looked at me for a little bit until he started the dead conversation again. “How’s it been?” “What?” “Life.” “It’s alright. I’m sure you’re doing better.” “Don’t say that.” That’s what he said, but I’m sure he knew it too. He smiled crookedly, as if he was trying to imply something. But he wasn’t. He just smiled in a sad way. “Don’t say that. I have my downs too.” I nodded, pretending to agree with him. That was the only way to make sure he didn’t feel a bit guilty. Guilty of what? More than anything, I wanted Ario to just come and break this off. I hated having to talk like this with my brother, the way we would seem to force ourselves to speak to each other. It was awkward. We loved each other, didn’t we? We couldn’t hate each other no matter what we did. But why did we have to act like this? “I’m back!” Speak of the devil. Before I could do anything, Sylva cheered and dashed over to him for a hug. A bit afraid to make her angry, I didn’t say anything towards this. Ritsu, however, hit Ario hard and then made sure he handed Sylva back. I felt myself smile a bit. “Hey, Daisuke.” Jurin suddenly said. “What do you think Ario sent us here for?” I shrugged. I couldn’t do much else. Jurin nodded and scratched her cat ear. She was born with a pair of cat ears, the reason why hasn’t been discussed with us yet. “You think it’s something important?” “I wouldn’t know.” She laughed. “Good answer.” She was a somewhat airheaded person, like Ario, but she knows when to be serious and being mature. I didn’t hate her, so I guess you could say I liked her a bit. “Okay, okay. I got something awesome to say!” Ario exclaimed proudly. “I found…a client.” “You speak of this like you caught a firefly.” Ritsu whispered, albeit loud enough for Ario to hear. He heard, I’m sure, but he ignored it and continued on. Sylva perked up, suddenly. “Is this going to get us in trouble? Or is this completely safe?” He shrugged. It must’ve been against what Myra told us, since he wasn’t going to admit it. “I’m pretty sure she’s a bit of a handful, though. I mean, people like Daisuke wouldn’t match up to her anger-“ “Hey, I can certainly stand up for myself.” Against a girl, I was going to add, but my mouth held in those words and I decided to shut up. Ario chuckled in response to this. “But you’re so small! If you want to beat someone up, you could always eat whenever I take you out.” That was true; I couldn’t say something against that. I don’t eat very often, much to my family’s dismay, and because of that I’m extremely…skinny isn’t my preferred word. But I guess I am skinny. “What’d you do to her?” I suddenly asked. “Eh? Oh, nothing. I mean, nothing bad.” “What?” “I mean, she wasn’t listening to me, so I decided a little force was necessary.” “What did you do?” He rubbed the back of his neck, and then said, “I made a little fire around where she was and-“ “You killed her?” “Non! I just gave her a warning, and—“ “Hey, Frenchie.” A suddenly shrill voice cut through the air. In the middle of it was a girl, who, from the looks of it, was our supposed client that ‘Frenchie’ here put in a horrible mood. “You really pissed me off back there. I mean reeeally pissed me off. Up to the point where I figured that I was not letting you get away with this.” Oh, this is wonderful. She’s going to kill him, but with what? I waited patiently for an answer from our perpetrator. “Eh? How did you-“ “I’m not stupid, you damned bastard. Those stupid fires weren’t fucking real.” Ario was a bit intimidated by this young lady’s intentions for him. I, admittedly, was very much into this conversation. I was certainly amused by what Ario had coming for him. “Hm, well, I thought I could get away with something like an illusion…but…” He drifted off nervously. “Who’re those guys? What the hell, is this a posse?” She pointed directly at me rather than everyone else- did I really stand out that much? Ario himself took a long, good look at her finger’s direction and then back at the girl. “Well, we’re not a ‘posse’. We’re more like a-“ “I don’t care. What is this place? Where the hell am I? Who are you? Answer my questions.” We all glanced back and forth at each other- we were all as new to this as her. Well, sort of new, she’s a total new person, while we all knew about this, but we were all still an overall new group. “Well…” I started at a rather loss of words. “We’re all new to this ourselves. But what I can tell you is that you’re dreaming.” She nodded. “Like hell I haven’t noticed that.” “And that you’ve entered a rather new dimension. Well, not you. It’s more like your soul.” She seemed to be listening quite carefully here. “Your soul is what enters this world. And then it becomes like an internet- a bunch of people in some sort of game.” I cleared my throat here, until Sylva entered in a rather serious tone. “Except in this game, you can’t start over. Once you die, it’s all over.” All eyes were on her. Even mine. It was a certainly out of character voice, and suddenly, Ritsu and I knew what happened already. Sylva’s second personality had suddenly appeared. “Once you die, you don’t come back. This world is the exact same as the one where you and I come from. Only, things here are more or less bending all laws of physics, and there are almost no rules here.” Sylva ended this with a slightly odd smile. “Enjoy your stay.”
She suddenly frowned and her eyes widened. I let out a relieved sigh, but hardly knowing what I was relieved about. “Well, that was more or less odd.” She growled a bit under her breath. “But I guess I get it now, sort of.” She peered at the ‘posse’ for some sort of approval. “Is it all true?” We nodded in unison. “Huh.” Again, she gave a glance at all of us. “And I’m supposed to die?” She grinned a little, as if she was waiting for something like this for a while. “So, how do I make a ‘dream’ to keep myself from dying?” Now, it was Ario’s turn for explanations.
A period of time passed throughout his explanations, which were, to me, a bit vague and off. They did not seem to summarize what was supposed to be summarized, and his choice of wording was, to be blunt, stupid. It was like him to be that way though- a somewhat off character without much of a care in his life. I didn’t cut in except for a bit of throat clearing and nudging for times when he forgot something. Now, by the orders of this girl, we were to share our names. “I’m Misaki. Nothing more, nothing less.” She glanced at Ritsu, who in her gaze, seemed to feel a bit uncomfortable. “Well, I’m Ritsu, if you have to know.” She nodded in satisfaction. It was then, I guess, she realized we were twins when she turned and looked at my face and asked for my name. “Daisuke.” I kept it exceedingly brief. She waited, as if I had more to say, and then nodded. She skipped Ario, apparently, either she knew his name already or she was content with calling him Frenchie. Finally, in that white area, Ario finally said something. “You have to make your dream now, or we’re gonna have t’ kill you.” She looked towards him, as if she already knew what to do. “All I have to do, is think of a bunch of things from that survey you gave me? Without looking at the paper?” “Makes you think harder.” He replied. She recognized his answer and then continued to think a bit. “This is based off of what I think…right?” We nodded. She sighed, as if it were a longing. She looked a bit mysterious then. As if she were sincerely deep in thought. She looked as if she weren’t going back to reality anytime soon, because what she wanted the most was where she was now. And she can’t get it back.
Misaki Yamamoto This place was based on my thoughts. So would it create its own colors, its own rooms? Or would it read my thoughts and know exactly what I thought? I didn’t know, all I did was try to remember. Not just the survey, but everything I had ever experienced. The first play I was in. When I met Nori. When I met that kid. I didn’t want to remember his name. I couldn’t remember his name. Just the same smiling face that he would always wear when he said, “Hey Misaki, let’s go stargazing tonight!” Stargazing, I suddenly thought. “I’ll go, I’ve never been before.” I wanted to say that, to the blurry face in the back of my mind. It felt like I’ve already said that before. I wanted to ask if it was fun. I wanted to ask if it was going to be at the hill behind my house. Was it also going to just be us two? Or are we inviting friends over? I was going to say something. I wanted to say something. But before I could do anything, I hit the cold ground with a painful thud and, feeling only half-conscious at the moment and praying that I already was. “…Shit!” I screamed, extremely loudly. It was rather on purpose than anything else, and loud enough for everyone to hear. I didn’t expect to hear it, over and over again and echoing against the… Walls? I shot up, peering at the gray-blue interior of what was once the white, blank, dead space of nothing. Stumbling, I stood up and examined my new surroundings, which both surprised and horrified me at the same time. I couldn’t say that I hated where I was. It wasn’t half bad, actually. But how did I get here? Did I fall through the roof? I stepped back and took a look at the ceiling, that, apparently, had a hole in it. I fell from that high, and I didn’t die? Quickly calculating how far the hole was to the ground, I could safely say it was at least 18 feet. But if you’re dreaming, you can’t die, right? Then again, people do die here. How does this make any sense? In real life, could I have died? I shook my head in disbelief. This isn’t real, right? Ario, Daisuke, Sylva, Ritsu, and Jurin weren’t real, just figments of my imagination. Of course, I finally concluded in the dark corner of my mind. They’re not real. It’s just a dream, you’ll never see them again. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and then, for the first time, noticed what I was wearing. I could’ve card less about that, really. But peering down, I wasn’t in my regular school uniform that I was this morning. It was simply a white dress, without any sleeves. It looked like a skank’s outfit, if you asked me, showing the cleavage and barely at my thighs. But all in all, I really didn’t care much, since the throbbing in my head made me feel somewhat queasy and where I was at this moment mattered much more to me. Glaring back at the ceiling, I found one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever realized. There was no sky. I stepped back in awe and stared. Because there was no sky, wouldn’t there be a white space? No, it wasn’t white, but it was actually a color that I’ve never seen before. It had no resemblance to anything I’ve seen in my life. All I could say was that it was dull, boring, and horrid. It scared me. A color that brought out everything you’ve never felt? It’d send a chill down your spine too. Quickly, I turned my attention to the house itself. It was more of a mansion than it was a house- it lacked the humble love a house would normally offer, and instead it holds a dead, dull, silence and cold evil that was merely for decoration. It didn’t feel like a haunted house, but it did, in the same way. It felt unearthly as the disgusting color that lay outside. And it suddenly occurred to me- where was Ario? And Daisuke and Ritsu and…the others? Did they just leave me here for no reason, or did they die? It could only be answered in one way- if I explored this house. But before anything was taken care of, my eyes averted to the ceiling. Something had to be done with that hole or I’d go mad. This house was created on my thoughts about things, including the survey I took. So, if I had imagined the hole wasn’t there, would it go away? It sounds crazy, but from what I’ve encountered, this was one of the least crazy things I’ve done today. I shut my eyes, and then, imagined the roof as if it were unscathed. I didn’t hear a thing, nor did I feel any sort of movement. Did it work? “It can’t be.” I murmured in a whisper to myself. I opened my eyes and, reluctantly, looked at the ceiling. There wasn’t a hole. Just a large patch of light gray blue that covered the gap as if it had since I’d been here. I couldn’t help but stare in awe of the situation. “Ah, so I guess you’ve done it, yes?” His voice was easily recognized by my ears. “Done what, Ario?” He nodded his head towards the ceiling. “Finally acknowledged that this is a dream world, of course! Apparently, you just patched up your roof there!” He smiled a toothy smile, and then laughed. “Where were you this whole time?” I queried, slightly suspicious. “That’s for me to know and for you, my dear, to find out.” He smiled again, and more than ever did I want to punch out his teeth. “Why don’t you go around and look for the others? They’re bound to be here somewhere.” I showed no signs of disagreement with him and then walked to the next room over. It was large and vast, suddenly striking a hint of nostalgia in my chest. What was it about this room that made me cringe? It looked no different from the other rooms, which looked the exact same way. But this one was different. It was much too odd for me to continue staying. I traveled to another room, one down the room I crashed in, and then found it was a dining room with no more than a table and two chairs. I had expected a much longer table and many more chairs, considering the luxurious mansion. I found it boring and plain, and went on through the hallway. There were a vast many doors there, one of them being the kitchen. I opened the large double doors and peered in the gleaming white kitchen. It was…big. There were stoves in at least every corner of the room, and there was a second floor to the kitchen as well. I traveled here and there, until I heard a voice. “Hello!” I looked down at the small white haired girl, and then realized who it was. “Are you Sylva?” She nodded. I stared at her for a bit, examining her outfit. It was a chef outfit, complete without the chef hat. She looked very sophisticated but much too young to be here and cooking. “How old are you?” “I’m turning fifteen in September.” She nodded and then looked at my face for an expression. I guess I was surprised, due to the fact she looked as pure as a ten year old. She could’ve snuck back in to elementary school without anyone noticing. “Really?” “Yes, of course. How old are you?” “I’m eighteen.” “Did you graduate yet?” “Yeah.” “What’s the graduation festival like?” “Boring.” I replied to her questions as briefly as I could. She bobbed her head up and down, as if it were more than enough to tell her. I wanted to ask more, until I heard a loud clatter of silverware upstairs. “Oh, shit!” The potty mouth was Jurin. I recognized the pair of mousey ears on top of her head, which looked very odd considering it was…well, it’s an odd thing already to have animal ears. She peered up, flabbergasted, and clumsily introduced herself. “I-I’m Jurin! It’s very nice to meet you!” I took one look at her and felt we weren’t going to mix very well. She was that kind of girl who really sees everyone as a good person or something, or at least, in my point of view. She had a bright expression in spite of this embarrassing situation and she grinned widely. Did I mention she had animal ears? I refused to stay much longer, and decided to leave before spewing my guts over the happy party. I left quickly without warning, leaving the two in a possibly confused state of mind. I still couldn’t hold it all in- how the entire mansion appeared before me from just thinking, even if this was a dream world. There was still no logical, scientific, normal explanation for this. I couldn’t assume that this was a trick, and if it was, it was a good one. It was a really, really good one. It was flawless. But from what I’ve seen so far, I could only assume that Ario was right. There would be no truth in this world, as there wouldn’t be in the real one. I walked across the floor angrily, feeling the cool material under my feet. My what? My feet? Are you telling me that I don’t have any socks or shoes on? I glanced down at my cold feet. They weren’t all too graceful- the toes all seemed a little too long and all too scraggly, but it wasn’t as if anyone looks at your feet that often. I never gave my feet a pedicure either. I hardly even knew what it was until I was at least seventeen. “My, oh my, clothes unfit for a queen.” I looked up suddenly, into Ario’s face. “What the hell?” “You haven’t read many English books have you?” “No. I read Japanese books. Because, you know, I’m Japanese.” I pushed him away and then made my way towards the stairs, until he grabbed my arm. “Don’t touch me!” I ran to the stairs, and did what my instinct told me to do. I hopped on the railing and prepared myself for a ride of a lifetime. Ario dashed to the staircase and watched me with a very odd glint in his eye, and then started laughing. “Holy shit! I want to try!” But this was certainly a bad idea- there were all too many dangers and cautions to do something like this. It was starting to get faster, and my hands were starting to blister and burn. A scream bult up in my throat, and then I thought I was having fun. Until there was nothing to stop me from speeding off the railing itself. I was suddenly in a situation that made any grown person say “Oh shit,”. I flew in the air only for a second. It actually felt great to be in the air for only a little bit. The odd feeling of being a bird was all too much for me, and at the moment, I felt like I was going to die any second then. But then I fell into the arms of the odd stranger whose name was Daisuke. I peered up into his blank face, and already did I feel slightly uncomfortable. “Are you alright?” I nodded quickly and, flustered, rolled out of his arms and dusted myself off.
