Well, Sorry for the delay guys! I was never and I mean NEVER able to get on and work on my story, so yeah. Here it is!
Light and Darkness don't mix
Ringpaw woke with a start. He looked around him, and then outside of the den. It was dark still, and his legs needed a stretch. He stood up and, being careful not to make a sound, walked out of the den. He stretched his legs well. Ringpaw remembered something that Demon and Thunder were talking about the day before. Wouldn’t it be cool if I could one day go to the Moon Cave? Ringpaw asked himself. He suddenly got this urge to find the Cave, and venture through it. Ringpaw looked around to make sure no one was watching. Then, when it was safe, he left the camp.
Little did Ringpaw know, when he ventured into the forest on his quest, Snowstar, leader of Shadowclan saw him. She followed him to wherever he was going.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Ringpaw saw a giant cave looming before him, he couldn’t help but run. Ringpaw ran as far as he dared to in the cave, then ran back out and collapsed on the rock in front of the cave. Snowstar came over and sat down on a twig, snapping it in two. Ringpaw’s eyes shot open, and he nearly jumped out of his skin seeing a leader before him. Snowstar jumped back as well, because Ringpaw had.
“What are you doing here Snowstar? I thought I was the only one!” Ringpaw barked stubbornly.
“I should be asking you the same thing!” Snowstar growled. She turned her head to the Moon Cave. “What brought you here, anyway? Little apprentices shouldn’t be so far from home!”
“Well, I heard Demon and Thunder talking about it, and I wanted to come here for myself!” Ringpaw answered, telling the truth. Snowstar sighed.
“Your little feet must be tired, so I guess we are to rest.” Snowstar muttered. She lay down, deciding to keep the first watch. Ringpaw, now feeling safer, lay his head down to rest. He closed his eyes and sleep quickly befell him.
Snowstar kept watch for a good hour or two. After that, she lay down to sleep, and was gone, without waking Ringpaw, forgetting about it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When they awoke, a small, light brown wolf was standing next to them. He was sort of outlined, and looked like a ghost. Ringpaw looked down at his paws and saw that he was the same. He also noticed that the rock beneath him was no longer there. Instead, lush grass comforted him. He turned his head to look at Snowstar, who was just waking. She too, noticed that they now sat on lush grass, and were ghosts.
“You are awake!” The brown wolf barked, freakily happy. When he saw the confused look on their faces, he frowned. “Excuse me for my rude behavior! I should introduce myself. I am Twigleaf, but most it just call me Twig. What are your names?” Twig asked as politely as a wolf could be. Ringpaw just shrugged and introduced himself.
“ My name is Ringpaw, and they call me just that.” Ringpaw eyed the new wolf called Twig carefully, then he snapped his attention to Snowstar.
“I am Snowstar, leader of Shadowclan!” Snowstar barked proudly.
“Well not anymore, I would guess.” Twig barked dangerously quiet. Both Ringpaw and Snowstar cocked their heads in confusion. Twig sighed. “Do you know where you are?” He asked them, and sighed again when they shook their heads.
“You are in Starclan territory.” He barked, once again quiet. Ringpaw’s jaw dropped, and Snowstar gasped.
“But, but I am not dead!” Snowstar exclaimed, horrified.
“If you ended up here, then you are. How did you get here?” Twig asked quietly.
“Well, I went to sleep, and here I am!" Snowstar barked. " Woo hoo!” She said that last part as sarcastically as possible.
“But we were at the Moon Cave! Isn't it normal?” Ringpaw protested. He believed this is what happens when Medicine Wolves go to the Moon Cave.
“We were outside of the Moon Cave, not in it! We would be greeted differently if we were still alive!” Snowstar growled at Ringpaw.
“Hey, no need to be getting angry now! Anyway, you could have been murdered in your sleep….Do you want to go see your bodies?” Twig barked.
“YES!” Snowstar and Ringpaw barked at the same time.
“Then lets go! What are you waiting for?” Twig barked, hopping on a cloud that floated down to him. Snowstar and Ringpaw shrugged, then hopped on with him. To their amazement, it was still stable, and held their weight. But they could see through it as though they were walking down there. Ringpaw noticed Twig’s paw moving on the cloud, in the direction the cloud showed they went.
They was heading off towards the Moon Cave so they could see their bodies and find out what happened. When they saw the giant cave, Ringpaw sighed with relief. When they all saw their bodies, they all gasped, for it looked like Snowstar and Ringpaw had just gone to sleep. To Ringpaw’s amazement, Twig hopped off the cloud, and bounded towards the bodies. When Ringpaw looked around him, all he saw was the clearing they were in. Ringpaw could see through the cloud, but he hopped off anyway. When he did, everything around him changed, and was now by his body.
“Hmm… There does not seem to be any blood…..” Then Twig gasped. Ringpaw leaped to his side, and stood next to Twig. “What happened?” He asked, and looked down at the bodies. Snowstar bounded to the other side of Twig.
“Well, this is not easy to tell you….” Twig began, then gulped. “But a wolf, a special wolf, snatched your souls away from your bodies. They tried to drag your soul away, but another special wolf stopped him, and brought you to Starclan, where you awoke…” Twig stopped, and gulped as much breathe as he could. He started to turn back to the cloud, but Ringpaw stopped him.
“Who did?” He growled.
“I don’t know.” Twig whispered, and leaped out of Ringpaw’s reach. Then he leaped on the cloud, and motioned for them to follow. Snowstar zipped past Ringpaw. Ringpaw hesitated, then followed.
“How do know that it even happened then?” Ringpaw asked. He was starting to doubt Twig.
“That is the only other possible answer. If you didn’t die of being murdered, then you died because your soul was snatched out of your body.”
“What if it was old age?”
“It wasn’t! You are too young for that, and I know for sure that it was not Snowstar’s time!” Twig growled. Ringpaw looked down out of embarrassment.
When they got back to Starclan territory, Twig lead them through the bushes and trees. Along the way, they saw all sorts of wolves. Some small, some big, some young, some old. Soon, there was a beautiful Red, orange and yellow wolf, basking in the sun.
“Flame?” Twig barked at the wolf, pawing at him. Flame’s eyes shot open, and he looked at the newcomers.
“FATHER!” To Ringpaw’s surprise, that was Snowstar. She was running to Flame, and collapse at the rock he was basking in. Ringpaw sprinted after her, and barked a friendly “hello” to Flame.
“Well, hello. Who are you?” Flame asked Ringpaw.
“My name is Ringpaw! What is yours?” Ringpaw asked him.
“Flame.” A voice Ringpaw knew very well barked out. Ringpaw turned around and saw Snowstar standing up, as if to be braving whatever scared her. Ringpaw’s eyes widened, and he walked up to her.
“I don’t care what you say dad, I will face it. I admit, I ran away. I joined a clan. And it was all because I did not want to die. But look at me now! I have your blood, because I am a leader. It might not have been what you wanted exactly, but I have become a leader. Leader of Shadowclan.
“This is seeming like you want me to go, because it is getting sort of personal…” Twig asked, greedily trying to leave. Flame nodded.
“I wanted to talk to them privatley, so yes. You may go.” He stared at Twig until the brown wolf ran away. He rolled into a sitting position, then looked Snowstar straight in her eyes.
“I forgive you.”
“What? I forgive you? That’s all? I thought you would give me a lecture or something! Jeez, you really discipline your children!” Snowstar barked, then she realized what she said.
“Well, yes. That is all. But I will talk to later Snowy, because right now, I need to tell you a….” Flame stopped and looked around. “Prophecy.” He whispered, then whispered the prophecy.
“When light and darkness mix,
Three wolves will be at a fix. Now I know what it means. “ Flame whisperd. Ringpaw cocked his head in total confusion.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Ringpaw asked, in complete turmoil.
“ I think the second part means that you and me, and another wolf, will all be returned to our original bodies. I don’t know what the first part is, though.” Snowstar barked calmly. Flame just smiled.
“So I guess you will have to figure out. When the sun hit’s the underside of a leaf, all will be okay.” Then Flame stalked off, ignoring their confused shouts. When he was out of earshot, Ringpaw barked, “I don’t know what that is supposed to mean either, but that is impossible!” Snowstar nodded agreement.
“Well, light and darkness won’t mix if we just stand here! Come on Ringpaw, lets figure out what that means!” Snowstar barked, and dashed off without letting Ringpaw argue. Ringpaw dashed off after her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahead of Ringpaw was the Dark Forest border. All was darkness, and Ringpaw could see nothing.
“So, do we go in?” He asked, and Snowstar nodded. She took a step forward. Then her body was filled with all sorts of images, and scenes of wolves dying, killing others, and committing suicide. She shuddered, and stepped back.
“Don’t do it.” Snowstar barked the warning to Ringpaw, hoping he did not walk forward. Too late. Ringpaw had already put a foot on the Dark Forest side of the border. But nothing happened. He took another step. Nothing. And another. And another. Nothing.]
“What are you talking about Snowstar? Nothing happened!” He barked, beckoning her over. She took a step over the border, and nothing happened. She was able to walk to Ringpaw without pictures coming to her mind.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They walked together for a while. Soon, they came to a green wolf. He was staring at them, with cold, green eyes. Snowstar gasped, and almost fell to the ground.
“What is it, Snowy?” Leaf barked, cold green eyes boring into her. She pulled herself farther back, trying to disappear. Ringpaw stared at her, surprised. Then, when the cold green eyes bore into him, he felt like shrinking back as well, but he stood his ground. He would not let a wolf that the leader shrinks back at do the same to him. Ringpaw was brave, and he could face a lot of things. He has also been through a lot of things.
“Do you know me, pup? Or what I did?” The wolf barked, freakily scary. This wolf seemed like a wolf in a pup’s nightmares. Ringpaw shook his head. So far, all the wolves Snowstar knows, Ringpaw wonders about. Snowstar started to come back up.
“Leaf….” Snowstar whispered. Ringpaw looked at the green wolf.
“Leaf?” He repeated. He looked at the green wolf in wonder.
“That’s my name. Don’t wear it out.” Leaf barked, an evil grin across his face.
“I hadn’t known then….What happened to Flame…” Snowstar trailed off, the white fading from her face. It turned more of a gray color. Ringpaw stared at her, amazed.
“What happened to Flame?” Ringpaw stared at Leaf, in wonder.
“I killed him. Yes, I will admit it. I wanted to become leader. But, doesn’t every pup growing up with Rainbow do?” Leaf’s evil grin widened, and Snowstar gasped. She turned to Ringpaw.
“I know who took our souls out of our body!” Snowstar barked, urgently. Ringpaw looked at Leaf, curiously. But Snowstar shook her head.
“Rainbow! It was Rainbow!” Ringpaw looked at Snowstar, and cocked his head. He had not seen Rainbow, or heard of her until now.
A twig snapped and all wolves heads whipped around to the sound. An evil laugh followed it all. A gray wolf striped with rainbows stepped out of the shadows. Her eyes were jet black, and you could barely tell the dark gray that was the coloring.
“Ha ha ha! You must be a smart wolf Snowy!” The rainbow striped wolf barked.
“Rainbow!” Snowstar hissed with disgust. Rainbow nodded, and laughed her evil laugh again.
“Now all you need to do is figure out who the 3rd wolf is!” Rainbow barked, evilly. Snowstar shot her head around, left and right. She could not see anything. Ringpaw whipped his head to behind him. He barely caught yellow eyes staring at him before they shut closed. Ringpaw started to walk towards the mysterious wolf, and prodded the bush the eyes were in. He was surprised to hear a yelp and a wolf leap out at him. Ringpaw’s cry was muffled, but it caused enough noise to make Snowstar, Leaf, and Rainbow look over. Snowstar quickly knocked the wolf off of Ringpaw, and gasped in surprise at who it was. Ringpaw knew by now that Snowstar knew a lot of dead people, so he was not surprised.
“Who is it now?” Ringpaw asked Snowstar, surprised at her answer.
“That’s…That’s my BROTHER!” Snowstar barked, then tilted her head to the sky and howled. Snowstar’s brother looked sad, and moved uncomfortably.
“I’m not dead….are you?” Snowstar’s brother asked Snowstar. She shook her head, and ran over to him.
“Bonsagi, I was so afraid you died! Are you sure-”
“Yes! I was the third wolf that got taken out of my body!” Bonsagi barked. Ringpaw stared at the scene in front of him. He watched as the talked back and forth.
“Do you know what the prophecy means?”
“ No. I am just as helpless as you Snowstar.”
“Man! I was hoping I could figure it out!”
“Me too!”
“Hey, you have good memory Bonsagi! What was the prophecy? I forgot…”
“That is just like you Snowstar! You couldn’t even remember your own Squad number!”
“Yeah, I know that! What was the prophecy?”
“When Light and Darkness mix, Three wolves will be at a fix. Then he also gave you that piece of advice, When the sun hit’s the underside of a leaf, all will be okay. I don’t even get that!”
Ringpaw barely knew what they were talking about. He piped in at the talk of the prophecy, though.
“Well, why don’t we think about names? That Leaf wolf is named Leaf, like the leaf in the prophecy. I just don’t know about the sun…Is there any dead wolf you know, Snowstar?” Ringpaw asked her, wondering what it was. But Leaf cut her off before she could answer.
“Enemies end up working together, Snowstar!” He barked, and Snowstar got it.
“Flame! I watched you kill Flame Leaf! You are a horrible wolf!” Snowstar spat at him.
“Oh my GOSH! Snowstar! You’re a GENIUS!” Ringpaw howled, surprised at how fast things were going. “It is Flame! Leaf and Flame must work together to get us back! Don’t you get it? The flames on the sun! That is what Flame was talking about!”
“You were on the right path, but you came to a fork in the road, and took the wrong turn, buddy! Your almost there!” Leaf barked evilly, laughing an evil laugh.
“Oh! I know!” Bonsagi barked.
“What is it?” Snowstar and Ringpaw barked as one voice.
“ Rainbow! Rainbow is Leaf’s mom, right?” Bonsagi barked. Snowstar nodded, while Ringpaw looked on with uncertain eyes.
“Well, Flame is his brother! Rainbow is their mom! It is her who must save us! The one who worked this evil magic!” Ringpaw’s eyes widened at this. They knew so much about dead wolves!
“I knew I would hate you two! You are dangers for me!” Leaf snarled, and looked to Rainbow to see what she would say. But her response surprised them all.
“So, your smarter than you look Grandchildren.” Snowstar and Bonsagi winced at that. “But still, you have only completed half of the test. Now you must figure out-” Rainbow was cut off by Ringpaw’s groaning.
“My head hurts from all this ‘figuring out’ stuff! Can’t you just send us back?” Ringpaw asked groggily, swaying from side to side out of tiredness. Rainbow glared at him for a second, then her motherly side came out.
“Oh all right! Now, you all must go to sleep for it. If one of you stays awake, you can’t go back.” Rainbow got a surprised glance from Leaf, a sigh of relief from Ringpaw, and gasps from Snowstar and Bonsagi. Ringpaw curled up into a ball and automatically went to sleep.
“Your turn.” Leaf growled at Snowstar and Bonsagi, unhappy he lost. Snowstar and Bonsagi glanced at each other, shrugged and curled up to sleep. Bonsagi went to sleep right away as well, but it Snowstar some tie to fall asleep. But when she did, she dreamed nothing but of her past.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ringpaw woke with a start. He felt like he was just dropped on the ground, and when his eyes shot open, he caught a glimpse of Rainbow glaring at them. Ringpaw stood and stretched his legs, then prodded Snowstar awake, though that was not needed. Bonsagi walked out from behind a bush, where his body was lying. They said their goodbyes, and Bonsagi went one way while Snowstar and Ringpaw went the other. Ringpaw never knew he would be so happy to walk into camp and curl in his den. He was even surprised to find himself happy that Verity woke him up after his long nap. She said that everyone was worried sick, for being gone 5 days. Ringpaw was surprised, for it seemed only like a day! He tried to argue with her, but thought better of it. He must not tell what happened, or all Eternity may change……
I hope you enjoyed it! And I hope the contest isn't officially dead! Cuz if so, than I did all this for NUDDIN! But, yeah.. That was my Marvelous Story!
Light and Darkness don't mix
