Konpaku was still upset over his sudden outburst, but quickly recovered when he heard Mintflower speak. "3 litters?" It was embarassing, but it came out as a squeak. "That's a lot of pups." He said, stunned.

Mintflower gazed off into the distance with even more pride. Yes, lots of brothers and sisters. She looked down and giggled. Hard times, sometimes.

Konpaku nodded. "I can imagine." He couldn't even think of having so many siblings. He looked at Mintflower and asked, "What was it like?" He normally didn't ask questions like this, but he was curious.

Mintflower looked straight into his eyes. It was fun, but scary when brothers turned against Mom. Her eyes clouded with grief. Her last litter she gave birth to a strong male that turned against her. She shivered. He killed her. Small tears fell to the ground with a quite plop and there was a long silence.

Konpaku could not speak or move. He was stunned at what Mintflower had just said. The silence was awkward, and Konpaku desperately wanted to say something, but couldn't. Instead, he eventually stood up and walked quietly toward Mintflower. He nudged her shoulder with his nose, then licked a stray tear. "I'm sorry." Was all he could manage to say.

Mintflower stepped back from him and shook away the tears. It's fine. It's fine. That was a long time ago. She and him are long gone. No more. She laughed flatly. It's fine.

Konpaku shook his head calmly. "No. It is not fine." He looked at her with sad eyes and continued. "You should not hold it in. If you feel that you need to cry, then you must do so. It is not good to keep your sadness bottled inside."

Mintflower gave a warm smile. It truly is! This time her laugh was filled with hearted love. I believe I'm going for a midnight run! Want to come? Mintflower hoped to wipe away this whole conversation.

Konpaku stood still and watched Mintflower for one moment, making sure that she was indeed ok. Finally, Konpaku nodded. "I would love to."

Okay! Mintflower's eyes lit up and she flicked his nose lightly with her tail. Ready? Go! She took off as fast as her feet would carry her out into the darkness. She turned around. Come on! Then she high tailed it again.

Konpaku watched as Mintflower ran away quickly, a smile of pure joy on his face. He stood up slowly, getting his muscles ready. When he was, he lept into the air letting out a yip of delight. Landing, he ran after her until he was behind her. Playfully, he bit at her back paws laughing. It really was nice to go for a run and not have to worry about anything.

Mintflower felt the nip at her heels and gave a fake battle cry. Charge! She took a sharp turn and jumped over Konpaku and headed back toward camp. Once she was about five feet away from him she took another turn and jumped on a tree. Finding out quickly that she couldn't climb, Mintflower pushed away from it as hard as she could with her back feet. Once she landed, she ran back over to Konpaku. Facing him, she growled, it was fake of course. Then she giggled playfully and taunted him. Coward!

Konpaku gave his own growl, which of course was also fake and playful. He then slipped into the shadows of the night, but did not hide as he went from shadow to the trees quickly. He made it look as though he were going to attempt to jump the tree as Minflower had, but instead ran over to her. He nipped at her ears playfully, careful not to bite too hard. Then headbutted her shoulder playfully. "Gotcha!"

Not for long! She ran around and around in circles to confuse him, carefully nipping his sided every other time around. Mintflower then tackled him and ended up on top of him. Told ya!

"I surrender!" Konpaku yelled as he fell to the ground with Mintflower on top of him. He rolled on his back and waited for her to loosen her grip. When it felt as though she were about to move, Konpaku rolled again. This time out of Mintflower's grasp. He came up on his paws quickly, then gently tackled her, switching the positions. "Gotcha again!" Konpaku barked, sounding like a young pup.
